LED has designed a 5,500 sf HIV and TB clinic in Mombasa, Kenya. The new medical center draws on our experience at the Bomu clinic, creating an archetypal community-scale treatment and testing center with exam rooms, pharmacy, laboratory, administrative and support spaces. Great care went into designing simple but effective natural ventilation throughout the building, in order to reduce the risk of patient-to-patient TB transmission. The clinic is to be built largely with US government (PEPFAR) money. All design services were donated pro bono.
